The thought of spending over $200 on a meal out is sickening to me….SICK! But you’re not here to read about the food. In short, I’ve had better food for waaayyy cheaper. You’re here because you’re visiting Philadelphia and you want a different dining experience. A dining experience that’ll transport you to a different tax bracket. One that shows Philadelphia in a different way.

Enter: Skyhigh Restaurant at the Four Seasons Philadelphia. Now a little backstory here… I lived in Philadelphia for 4 years as an undergrad at Temple University (go Owls!) and so my view on the city back then was not so positive. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVED my college years and I enjoyed getting to live in a different city. But I did not see myself living there long term. I thought the city was just a wannabe New York City.

The view from our table was breathtaking.

Let’s go forward like a decade plus (sshh) to today and my view is completely different. This city has its own thing going on with a little bit of attitude. But not in a bad way! The kind of attitude that would make you proud to call home. At Skyhigh, you’ll get to see the city from above (hence the name).

After you’ve made your reservations (at least 2 weeks prior), you’ll enter the Four Seasons hotel with service every corner you turn. Skyhigh is at the top floor of the hotel so you’re going to take the elevator to the top. This is where Skyhigh begins to impress you as you’ll be able to see how high you are going as the the elevators are glass.

Once off the elevators, there’s a sleek black marble lobby and a bench facing one of the large glass windows. Here, you can take in the view of the city. But it’s not until you walk into the actual restaurant that it begins to click. The black marble continues as you’re surrounded by the city’s skyscrapers. A circular bar sits to the left filled with men in suits and couples probably on date night. Straight ahead, there are steps adored by a waterfall that leads to another restaurant. There are seats with white chairs on both sides providing panoramic views of Center City Philadelphia.

Tuna Tartare & Seared Salmon

Now onto the food. I started off with the broccoli dip and the crispy calamari. I was sold on the hummus part that was described for the broccoli dip and it was honestly my least favorite thing on the menu. The crispy calamari was good but nothing original. For my main, we did the yellowfin tuna tartare and the seared salmon. Both dishes melted in my mouth and I would order again. My favorite was the chocolate cake for dessert. I know it sounds so basic but it was essentially a lava cake with warm chocolate inside and a side of vanilla ice cream. Sometimes its the simple things for me.

At the end of my expensive dinner, the sun was setting and if you know anything about me, I’m a sucker for sunsets. Watch the sun glisten off the tall skyscraper buildings as it moves down for the day. It’s a special experience especially when you’re surrounded by beautiful people and rich service. Next time you’re in Philly, treat yourself by dinning above the city at the Skyhigh inside the Four Seasons.

Watching the sunset at Skyhigh is a MUST
