Most of us have, at some point, considered what we would do if we could travel back in time. Maybe we would give ourselves some hot investment advice and become millionaires, or change history for the better, or witness our favorite historical event.

While I can’t time travel or change the past, my journey into travel has opened doors to experiences that feel like time travel in their own right. Each destination holds a story, a lesson, or a moment that reshapes how I see the world.

I became a solo traveler by accident

Eight years ago I was planning my 30th birthday party to Las Vegas with a group of girlfriends. One friend asked me “what’s the budget?” Another told me she was planning her wedding that year. Ultimately, everyone I invited dropped out. I was faced with the dilemma: should I stay in and do nothing for my birthday because I had no one or should I make the impulsive decision to book this last minute trip to Costa Rica alone. Little did I know, that impulsive decision would be critical moment in my life.

My first solo trip was only 3 days and it was international. Not enough time to explore a new country but it was enough for me to want to do it again.

It pushed me so far from my comfort zone. I had to navigate a new place on my own. I tried new activities that I would never even consider doing at home. And I was forced to eat dinner alone (the horror)!

But I what I found out the most during this experience was that I’m much stronger and capable than I ever imagined. I’m not weak. I’m strong. Brave even. Five plus countries later, I know who I am. What I like. What I don’t like. And most importantly what I can contribute to society.

Traveling makes me more productive

I get so caught up in the same boring routine at home. Sleep, eat, work, repeat. It’s such a toxic cycle of repeating the same activities without much growth and development. However, when I travel I am forced to explore myself and interact with others. Or if I’m on a getaway at a cozy cabin, I partake in activities that I don’t get to do in my everyday life.

Travelling teaches me and inspires me to become the best version of myself that I can be. Because of this I can give back to society in a positive way. Here I’ll share my favorites getaways and experiences. I want you to become as inspired and motivated as I have.

Now let’s getaway….
